Industrial undertakings, which include:
- Business operations in the construction industry.
- Business operations in which articles are manufactured, altered, cleaned, repaired, ornamented, finished, adapted for sale, broken up or demolished, or in which materials are transformed, including ship building and the generation, transformation, transmission and distribution of electricity or motive power of any kind.
- Mines, quarries, and other works for the extraction of minerals from the earth.
- Call centres
- All inbound (where the customer initiates the contact) customer contact centre operations are permitted to operate on Remembrance Day
- Outbound (where the contact centre employee initiates the contact with the customer) customer contact centre operations are permitted to operate on Remembrance Day only if they are directly responding to customer inquiries or complaints
- Engineering Companies are not considered part of the construction industry and do not otherwise fit into any of the above categories, so they should be closed on Remembrance Day; however, if staff from an engineering company are directly involved in overseeing construction industry work, those individuals are permitted to work.
- Landscaping Services are generally not considered part of the construction industry (or otherwise considered as industrial undertakings) and should be closed on Remembrance Day, unless they are integral to construction work that is being done on specific projects.
